The on-line materials presented in this course closely follow the curriculum set forth by the College Board for their AP® Computer Science A course. Note that this curriclum was significantly revised for the 2019-2020 academic year. A detailed curriculum can be found at the College Board's website.
In the version presented here, we offer a project-based approach to learning important computer science principles along with Java, the programming language of the course and the AP® Computer Science A exam. These materials make extensive use of Greenfoot, a graphical teaching tool for Java and Object-Oriented Programming.
Many of the Greenfoot projects in this course were provided by Brian Meermans, a Computer Science teacher at the Battlefield High School in Virginia. The project, House With Sunrise, was originally developed by Michael Kolling of Kings College in London.
